Privacy Policy
MenuMax is made by Shipmate Systems LLC (“we,” “us”), Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This policy describes what we collect when you use the MenuMax iOS app and this website, and what we do with it. The short version: we collect what the app needs to work, we don’t sell your data, and we don’t show ads.
What we collect
Account information. When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address (or Apple’s private relay address if you choose to hide your email).
Dietary preferences, allergies, and tastes. The allergies, diets, and taste preferences you enter during onboarding or edit in your profile. Allergy and diet information is health-related data; we collect it only because flagging dishes against it is the app’s core function, and we use it for nothing else.
Menu photos and scan results. The photos of menus you scan, and the results we produce from them: the dishes we read, prices, our assessment of each dish against your profile, and your picks.
Location. If you allow location access, we use your location at the moment of a scan to identify which restaurant you’re at. The restaurant associated with a scan is saved with your scan history. We do not track your location outside of scans, and scans work without location access.
Purchase information. Subscription status and product purchased, processed by Apple and our subscription provider RevenueCat. We never see your payment card details.
Usage analytics. A minimal set of app events (such as completing onboarding, a first scan, viewing the paywall, and scan failures), associated with your account ID. We do not use advertising identifiers, we do not record your sessions, and we instruct our analytics provider to discard IP addresses and not derive location from them.
How we use it
To run the app: reading menus, ranking dishes for your profile, flagging potential allergen and diet conflicts, generating representative dish images, saving your history, and managing your subscription. To improve the app: aggregate, minimal analytics about how the funnel performs. To support you: answering messages you send to support@getmenumax.com.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for advertising.
Who processes it for us
We use service providers to run MenuMax, each receiving only what their role requires: Supabase (database, authentication, and storage), Anthropic (reading menu photos and ranking dishes), Google (identifying restaurants via Google Places, and generating representative dish images), RevenueCat (subscription management), Apple (sign-in and payments), and PostHog (analytics, configured as described above). Menu photos and profile data sent to AI providers for processing are used to produce your results, not to build advertising profiles.
Retention and deletion
Your data is kept while your account exists. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → Delete account), which permanently removes your account, profile, scans, scan photos, and results from our systems. Deleting your account does not cancel an Apple subscription — manage that in your Apple ID settings. Representative dish images in our shared image library are not tied to any user and are retained.
Children
MenuMax is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update it here with a new effective date.
